The Life of the Party Suite
Throughout my 45-year career as a visual artist, some of my most rewarding moments have come while creating artwork commissioned by my private and corporate clients.
Recently, I completed a commissioned piece for an adventurous client who wanted to bring a sense of fun and celebration to his Marin County home. This commissioned piece was to hang in a spot that previously featured a large painting by Frank Stella. Quite a challenge
So, here’s what I came up with…
The Life of the Party Suite

L to R, Life of the Party, #2, #1, #3

Entitled The “Life of the Party Suite,” it features 3 canvases, all measuring 6 feet by 3 feet. The center canvas features a nattily attired male figure of the human/animal variety.

This center canvas is based on a smaller piece that I painted, aptly entitled “Dancin’ Fool.”

On either side, our hero is flanked by two female figures who are in a decidedly celebratory mood. These ladies are formidable, displaying a combination of defiant sensuality and sly wit. They harken back to iconic women of my childhood such as Dolly Parton, Ann Margret and San Francisco legend, Carol Doda.

Mess with these ladies at your own peril…..
